Virtual Attendance - FAQ
How CHItaly will be Hybrid?
CHItaly offers two main types of participation: a physical participation, for those who can participate in the conference in person, in the Free University of Bolzano, and a virtual participation, for those who can only participate remotely.
Throughout the conference, several opportunities to interact both virtually and physically will be available.
What format do the sessions take?
The conference convenes a variety of formats from traditional Long and Short Papers to Workshops and Interactive Experiences.
The conference sessions are organized around the emergent frontiers related to Human Computer Interaction:
Game & Play, Learning & Education, Methods & Tools, Care & Share, Mind & Body, Spaces & Places.
Where can I find the program?
The program is available on the website and on Gather Town, the interactive platform for virtual participation. Moreover, registered participants will receive a daily email with the program of the day.
What does my registration fee include?
The Global Pass Ticket covers all the social activities (coffee breaks, lunches, social dinner and goodbye aperitif). It allows participation in all events: interactive experiences, doctoral consortium, workshops, and the main conference program.
The Single Workshop Ticket covers the cost of participation in a single workshop alongside the related social activities, but NOT the social dinner.
The Exhibition Fee is required from interactive experience artists/researchers who participate in presence during the interactive experience event. It covers the cost of related social activities, but NOT the social dinner.

What platforms/software do I need to participate?
To attend the virtual conference, you need a good internet connection, your device or computer, a valid registration and if possible a webcam. You will receive login details a few days prior to the conference.
The main platform to participate to the virtual conference is Gather. However, if you have special needs or find difficulties in using Gather, you can use the direct Zoom links.
We strongly suggest you to use Firefox or Chrome.

What is the Gather platform?
Gather is a virtual space that allows people to interact more effectively online. It is a web-based video calling experience that allows you to walk through the virtual version of the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, attend the conference, and interact with other conference participants. Gather allows participants to access all the events: through their avatar, participants can walk to the rooms where the event takes place, get in and enjoy.
What if I can’t/don't want to use Gather?
The main conference, the doctoral consortium, and some workshops will be streamed on Zoom, following the links embedded in Gather Town. You will find the link for direct access also on the page above.
For accessing the conference via Zoom, you must use the same account you used upon your registration for the conference. You will not be able to join in without it. In case needed, create your Zoom account here:
